Old Testament Survey – CMT 07
Is the Old Testament important or even interesting? Yes! This class will provide a survey of the Old Testament and demonstrate its importance to believers today.
Biblical Theology
Both Basic Theology I (CMT 04) and Basic Theology II (CMT 05) focus on our church’s confession of faith. These classes are a study in systematic theology using our confession as the outline. Systematic theology is a study in particular doctrines. In both Old Testament Survey – CMT 07 and New Testament Survey – CMT 08, our attention is turned to the message of each book of the Bible. This type of study is called biblical theology. It will be the effort of this class to provide you with an understanding of (1) the big picture of each book and (2) how each book points us to Jesus Christ and his gospel (Luke 24; Mt. 5; 1 Cor. 10:11; Rom 15:4).

Christian Ministry Training (CMT)
CMT is a ministry training program for teachers and leaders at First Baptist church of Fortuna, CA (www.fbcfortuna.com).
The Christian Ministry Training (CMT) is a 10-module training program designed to equip believers with a well-rounded understanding of the Christian faith and to better serve in various ministry roles. The CMT program is not the full expression of discipleship. Instead, CMT introduces students to various theological subjects in a systematic way. The goal is two-part. First, to provide a robust framework for continued growth in the Christian faith. Second, to train all First Baptist Church of Fortuna (FBC) ministry teachers and leaders.
You can complete the CMT in one of three ways.
- The first is through in-person classes. You must attend at least 9 of the 13 classes.
- The second is to listen online to at least 9 of the 13 classes. After listening to each class, please text or email Pastor John to update him on your progress, including a one-sentence summary of each class. - The third is through independent book study. After reading the book, please write one paragraph summarizing it and one paragraph explaining how our church can benefit.
All FBC Members are highly encouraged to participate in the CMT program. However, all teachers and ministry leaders must complete all 10 modules. Those who teach or hold a leadership role at FBC must actively complete each CMT module. Although every class is important, to receive credit for each module, you must attend at least nine of the thirteen classes.
